Magnus-Opus | Jon Drummond + Nigel Helyer | Aust | 2001|
http://www.magnus-opus.com
The Magnus-Opus series is based upon pairings of eight notes used to create
sixteen different diads or two note chords. These tone pairs are used
to create melody 'modules' of a standard twelve note length. Additional
compositions may be obtained by joining melodies together, or by adding
melody fragments to standard twelve note melodies.
Our method was to assign each of the sixteen tone
pairs to an alpha-numeric pattern so that each letter or digit corresponded
to a pitch pair. This sequence when expressed through the operation of
a simple algorithmic generator produces some 10,000,000,000 melodies (together
with a more or less infinite number of additional compositions produced
by the addition of melody modules or fragments thereof).
It is not without reason, therefore, that we claim to be the world's most
prolific composers, hence Magnus-Opus.

Central to the project Web Wuerfel Werkstatt (Web Cube) is the creation
of virtual and symbolical space in the Internet and sign reflection of
real life. For a basis of navigating system the cube is taken spread out
in space on 6 parties. The square is a symbol of a civilization, and the
cube is a symbol the Internet of a civilization - virtual space. The surface
of a cube is filled links (objects) which are represented as a symbol.
Symbol it is the shortest way in understanding of transfer of the information.
Reflection of sign system for the people, animals and words, and also

N3xt.com is a series of loops, with the emphasis on plain space around
objects, exaggerated movements and sound. Certain schemes begin to produce
an idea in the mind when they are seen or heard, some a peaceful image
- a most welcome contrast to the feeling of confusion and unrest caused
by a crowded life style and a busy mind. An object gains importance when
it is separated from the things around it- a few frames of a movie take
a new life of their own when they are cut from their environment:
A new thought is born.
