Established by dLux media arts in 1998 D>Art remains one of Australia's premiere annual digital art events. This year distributed art and art forms that have an inherently distributed nature take centre stage. A month long program of exhibitions, screenings and a forum featuring leading Australian and International artists includes new work specifically for mobiles, the web, mp3 players and handheld devices. The D>Art.05 Exhibiton will feature Mobile Journeys, a national initiative exploring the creative potential of mobile and hand-held devices. The Mobile Journeys exhibition will inspire and challenge you to change the way you think about and use your phone; it will encourage you to be a producer as well as a consumer; and stimulate critical debate about how mobile devices are shaping our future. During the exhibition mobile phone art will be available for distribution to your private devices (mp3 players, mobile phones, etc) - bring your mobile, forget your wallet! |
The free D>Art.05 Exhibition of sound, web, and art for mobile devices will take place at the Sydney Opera House Exhibition Hall from August 10 until September 4 Opening times: Following the D>Art.05 Exhibition, the sound and screen works will be made available for online distribution through podcasting and BitTorrent, respectively. The D>Art.05 Forum: Distributed Art - Excavation, Ecology and
Evolution will explore the histories and near future of distributed
art in a networked age. Leading speakers from the arts, business and
legal professions will explore the key issues and technologies that
are shaping the contemporary media environment. The D>Art.05 Screen program, together with a special retrospective D>Art screening program will be presented at Chauvel Cinemas on August 31 at 6.30pm
