Take
5_ meta earth: the data paradigm
The
uptake of digital technologies in recent years has
been nothing short of phenomenal. From cracking the
human genome to mapping the melting of the polar caps,
these tools offer unprecedented scope. The acceleration
is but a mere whisper of the emerging data mist, and
exactly what will pan out over the coming decades
is, at present invisible
Let
us remember our recent past; we have witnessed the
cataclysmic future-
Digital
technologies offers the means to engage complexly
in real time across space. As the digital oeuvre evidences,
the evolution of data is not limited to mediation,
manipulation, de/ construction, mis/ communication,
fragmentation, re / combination, cluster, analysis,
search, archive, dis/order, materialisation and transformation.
While the applications for data are not limited in
scope, it is important to remember, data by its very
nature is not knowledge. Would anyone care to hack
a code for care, crack a code for consistency, map
a novel strategy for interdependance, patch a hope?
